Seeing the suffering of the people of Sierra Leone after a ten year old gruesome rebel war (1991-2001), Nine women came together and decided to take action to help alleviate the suffering of the masses. Thus in 2006 African Women of Love Ministry ( AWOLM) was born, with the aim of reaching out to the people, with the message of the love of Jesus Christ.
With a total destruction of the nation's Infrastructure, Sierra Leone is ranked one of the poorest countries in the world. Healthcare is a challenge, and the cost of living continues to rise. Maternal and child mortality rates are very high, and the life expectancy is 38 years for men and 41 for women.
